Its been months now since more than 200 Nigerian girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram. The incident happened during the night at one of the boarding schools in Nigeria. Now the question is what do you think about the role of social media in this case study of Nigerian girls? Do you think social media is playing an important role or not?

I agree with you, public relations and media, they really doing the good job. But I only have one question, who is responsible to ensure that they must find them?
ReplyDeleteEveryone is responsible. We have to work together and unite to make sure the girls return home safely. Remember united we stand, divided we fall.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true. Social media has proved that it is not only for entertainment but for important issues as well. And I think without social media this story would not have been as massive as it has been. Social media is really the future.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. social media is the future. I wonder how we would survive without it because it is the most fastest way of distributing news
Deletesocial media has a major role in such cases because they create awareness in such a way that a solution could be formulated to try and find the location of the girls and also it is a form of support to the families of the girls and the country as a whole. The role of social media is very significant.
ReplyDeleteEver since posts of Nigerian girls went rival on internet, everyone have been supportive and the families of the girls sees that the nation is trying by all means to help find the girls.
Deleteand Boko haram will see that he has no option but to release the girls because in the end he will be found, more and more people are joining hands to rescue the girls thanks to social media.
DeleteSocial media unites us from different countries whether you in South Africa, United States, Angola we are able to know incidents that happen through countries via social media. With social media being the platform to inform people about news lately we are all journalists as when something occurs we instantly go tweet about it , for example the tremor that happened in South Africa recently one would,nt have known about it if it was not for social media. So I say thanks to social media for making Journalists lives so easier this days .
ReplyDeleteAll the countries are linked together as a result of social media. everyone is now a citizen journalists where anyone can post something and journalists re-post. This created two-way communication between citizens and journalists. I also did not hear the tremor but due to social media being active, within 15 minutes after the incident happened, I was already aware that the earth tremor occurred
DeleteSocial media is absolutely very much helpful,I think I first heard about the Boko Haram issue on twitter,so you can imagine how many other people are like me out there and yes it wasn't happening in South Africa, but we even got to talk to nigerians and give them our support all because of social media,so really a job well done, though we waiting for the day those girls get realesed. Yes social media can get quiet cruel with insensetive comments and pictures,I really do think it helped a lot in adressing issues sorounding this saga.
ReplyDeleteMy point exactly. Sometimes social media can really be cruel and with unnecessary things but when coming to Bring Back Our Girls it outdid itself. It has shown that we as people care about each other and we will together join hands to voice out and be heard.
Deletethe media is in need doing a great job concerning the Nigeria accident . just hope the girls are still alive.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. we have to keep on believing and praying. God does wonders
Deletewhat other campaigns do you know about which are taking place except for #bring back our girls, its hard for those particular families I can imagine hey
ReplyDeletethe campaign that supports the issue of Nigerian girls is only #Bring Back Our Girls. It is a powerful campaign I must say because it has got lot of supporters
DeleteSocial media has played a crucial and pivotal role in the #BBOG issue. It is a great form of voice collection globally in a very short space of time, i must applaud. But now my question is, how is it precisely helping in #BringingBackOurGirls?
ReplyDeleteSocial media create awareness that this issue of Nigerian girls is real and it also tries to spread the word globally in finding the girls.
