Five tips to consider when studying Public Relations

Hey guys. How is your week so far? Mine is very hectic, not that i'm complaining though. I am back again with a different and interesting topic of five tips to consider when studying Public Relations. I hope this topic will be useful to all of you.

Before we can begin by identifying tips, let us start with the definition of PR. Public relations can simply be defined as a relationship between the public and the business. One may also define it as the opposite of advertising. In advertising we pay to have our messages placed in a newspaper, radio or TV. In public relations, the article that features our company is not paid for.http://goo.gl/3ZoNhp

Five tips to consider when studying Public Relations

Have good communication skills

Public relations practitioners have to have good communication skills because PRP's work with different people and also engage with the public. The role of PRP's may involve dealing with the journalists and presenting clients.

Good writing skills

Public relations practitioners are expected to write articles for newsletters and also write press releases. We do not want to make spelling and grammatical errors now, do we? So it is important to have good writing skills as this paints a positive picture for the PRP.

Be on time

As a Public relations practitioner, one has to meet the deadlines. This means that PRP's have to be willing to work under pressure and multitask. Deadlines cannot be postponed because one is busy with the other article, if the workload is too much, then multitasking will help.

Be creative

A PRP have to be creative and be able to come up with different and interesting topics to write about. Being creative does not mean one has to forget professionalism. Be professional while being creative. Come up with ideas of solving problems or improving situations.

A public Relations practitioner has to be friendly with the public as well as colleagues. When one is approachable, they will have the ability to work with a team. Remember, working with a team is important because that is where new ideas come from.

Social media plays a vital role

Hey my fellow mates. Hope everyone is doing alright as I am also good. This post elaborates on the use of social media regarding important issues. I am very excited to have created a blog so that we can all share our opinions. I hope you will find it interesting and useful.

Social media exposes Boko Haram

Its been months now since more than 200 Nigerian girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram. The incident happened during the night at one of the boarding schools in Nigeria. Ever since then, social media has been useful, it has been trying to make people aware of the incident. This is the world of new media where everyone have got access to Internet and social platforms. Public relations and social media have become one of the fastest platform that distributes news to large audiences without paying too much money.

Everyone across the world have been talking about Nigerian girls since the posts went viral on internet. The first lady, Michelle Obama, even uploaded her photo on the internet with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.

Social media has proved that it is not only for entertainment but for important issues as well. influencers and journalists are on social networks and once a newsworthy story pops out in social media, the journalists quickly help to spread the word. http://goo.gl/9PdXYZ
